P.E. Days
P.E. Day: Thursday
Your child can come to school in the active uniform or a more traditional uniform on non-PE days.
Please refer to the Uniform Policy if you are unsure.
Routines
Please encourage your child to come into their class independently. Parents and carers are welcome to bring their children to the doors during Autumn term. We operate an open-door policy if you wish to speak to anyone about your child. You can also use your child's reading diary to pass on any non-urgent messages. These will be checked regularly by our team.
Tumble Group should enter their classroom via the EYFS gate and automatic doors. Crumble Group should enter their classroom through the KS1 yard.
Please send your child with a fresh water bottle each day and a book bag. Both of which must be labelled.
Healthy snacks and milk are provided by the school.
Rewards
Children will receive house points as an incentive for following our school rules and values. We also reward children's efforts with our recognition tree which is aimed to encourage and reward children as a team. We have a different focus for this depending on what we are working on in class but it could include 'Super Sitting, 'Lovely Listening', 'Waterfoot Walking'
Our First Days
We have been so proud of how well the children have settled into their new school, learning new routines and meeting new friends. Take a look below at how happy they are, undertaking new independent challenges!
Our First trip to the Woodland
Last week we braved the weather and went to look at our woodland area. We found the basecamps and searched for bugs and plants. We found lots of slugs and mushrooms and learnt about different trees. We talked about how to stay safe in the woods and what we could and couldn't touch.
hello yellow - world mental health day
We had a wonderful day on Friday wearing yellow and learning about how to keep our brains happy and to spread kindness. We did some happy breathing, yoga, made a yellow picture, went on a mindfulness walk searching for yellow in nature, made posters, and went on a yellow treasure hunt!
Diwali
This week, we have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We learnt it is a festival of lights and people celebrate by decorating their homes, wearing new clothes, making and lighting diya lamps, and praying at the temple. We set up our home corner for Diwali, dressed up in traditional clothes, made our own clay diya lamps, and read the Story of Rama and Sita.
Spooky Halloween fun
This week we have been talking about Halloween. We have dressed up in our Witches Kitchen, explored hammers with the pumpkins, painted pumpkins and made a strange bubbling potion!
Bonfire Night
There are so many celebrations this term! We have been learning about Guy Fawkes today and why we make bonfires and watch fireworks. We all talked about our own experiences and then made bonfire pictures and edible sparklers.
A busy week in Oak Class
This week in Oak Class, we have been celebrating our differences. We have learnt that we are the same in many ways, but we love to be different. We wore our odd socks on Monday and then celebrated Interfaith Week by exploring different religions and their symbols.
Children In Need
We had lots of fun celebrating Children in Need day in Oak Class. Take a look at the fun activities we have enjoyed.
Winter Fun
Another busy week in Oak Class! We have been reading the book Stick Man by Julia Donaldson and have really enjoyed thinking of adventures in Drawing Club. We then went on a wintery walk to find sticks to make our our Stickmen but found they were too wet. Not to be beaten we improvised with lolly stcks. Take a look at our wonderful characters. We loved taking them on their own new adventures.
Christmas Jumper Day!!
We’re sure you’ll all agree that we looked fabulous in our Christmas jumpers, and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing a special lunch together.
Our 2025 Christmas Nativity
We were incredibly proud of how hard the children worked on our Christmas Wriggly Nativity. Every single child shone like the star they are. Well done, everyone, you were amazing!
Christmas Party Fun
Number Day 2026
The children had a wonderful time today celebrating number day and raising money for NSPCC. A huge thank you to parents and carers for taking the time to make such wonderful outfits.
Chinese New Year
In Oak Class we have been learning about the Chinese New Year festival. We have read the Story of the Great Race and learnt about the traditions and celebrations that are part of the festival. We made our own mini dragons, dragon and lion masks and colloratively made a large dragon puppet and performed a dragon dance, using instruments and a song that we had learnt. Finally, we tested our fine motor skills by using chopsticks to eat noodles and taste different chinese sauces and prawn crackers. Take a look at the fun we had!
Holi
This week we have been learning about the Hindu festival of Holi. It is a festival to celebrate the arrival of Spring. We learnt about how people may decorate their homes with rangoli patterns and had a go at making our own. It is a festival of colour where brightly coloured powder paints are thrown at each other during large street parties. We had our own colour party, some of us dressed in traditional clothing and did a special dance. We mixed colours using our hands and created a beautiful mural to decorate our classroom. The sun was shining and we had lots of fun.
World Book day - 5th March 2026
Oak Class have enjoyed taking part in World Book Day activities. The children came to school in comfortable clothes or dressed as a clue linked to their chosen book. Each child selected a favourite book from home or school, wrapped it up, and created a set of clues for their classmates to solve. Sharing these clues formed the basis of our work today, giving the children time to talk about their chosen texts and to guess the books chosen by others.
The class also visited the decorated classroom doors around the school, and spent time trying to work out which books had been selected as each class’s mystery title.
