OUR WONDERFUL PUPIL AMBASSADORS

At Waterfoot our pupils' voice is key to developing our school. In school, we have a wide range of pupil groups who lead whole school on a range of initiatives and ventures to ensure we are continually growing and developing. We currently have a school council, a green-team, equality champions, happiness heroes and librarians. We have also in past years had computing ambassadors and science ambassadors in school. Read on to find out about who they are and what they have been doing in school.

WE ARE THE SCHOOL COUNCIL

Hi, we are the School Council. We help to make sure that all the children’s voices in our school are heard! We help to make decisions for our school community. We often take part in special assemblies. This year we have talked about World Mental Health Day and International Braille day. We have written a new Equality Charter for children in our classes. We like to fundraise for charities, especially in our community.

WE ARE THE EQUALITY CHAMPIONS

We work with the adults in school to ensure we as a school celebrate diversity, promote inclusion and champion kindness and respect for everyone. We work with our teachers to identify ways to make our classrooms, the playground and school activities more inclusive for all.  We also participate in events that help raise awareness of other culltures, backgrounds and abilities. We champion celebrating our differences!

WE ARE THE GREEN TEAM

The green team work on all things environmental, from recycling in school to energy saving to running our Eco-Shop. The Green team raise awareness of ‘green issues’ in school through assemblies. They also have an important pupil voice on such matters in regular meetings with Mrs Alderson, our Geography lead. They have an important role this year leading the way on sustainability.

WE ARE THE HAPPINESS HEROES

Our role is to be myHappymind ambassadors for the school to lead the way in helping all children look after their own happiness. We help ensure all our pupils in school are happy, spreading positive messages and happy breathing techniques around the school. We lead on assemblies linked to mental health and MyHappymind whole school assemblies too. We have been awarded our Silver Accreditation as a school and are now completing a range of challenges that involve the whole school community to achieve our gold award!
