A super proud evening for our Netball team tonight! After qualifying for the finals a few weeks ago, we took on the other Rossendale finalists after school today at All Saints School. We began with a match against Broadway who we beat 2-0 with goals from Millie and Eva. Our second match was against Stubbins. After going 1-0 down we came back with two goals; both scored by Poppy; to go 2-1 up! Just before the half time whistle Stubbins scored a second and then they scored a third in the second half. This meant we came 2nd in our group and we would play against Thorn who had come 2nd in their group for the 3rd/4th place play-off match. This match was a thriller with Waterfoot going 2-0 up to begin with, Thorn pulled one back but within minutes we thought we had gone 3-1 up with a goal from Millie until it was sadly disallowed. This didn't get Millie down though and a few minutes later she scored us another goal. Marium and Harriet were making brilliant interceptions in defence then Thorn pulled another one back to make it 3-2 but then Eva scored us a forth! This meant that we finished in 3rd place overall. A wonderful result! Congratulations to Tonacliffe who won the event and will represent Rossendale at the Lancashire finals! Good luck in Blackpool! We will be rooting for you!
