At Waterfoot School, we think for ourselves but feel for others.

Elm Class

Welcome to Elm Class!

We are a fantastic class of year 1 and 2 children.

Our teacher is Mrs Ginty and our teaching assistant is Miss Pickles. Mrs Morris helps us on a Monday afternoon and a Friday afternoon. Our outdoor P.E is Monday afternoon and indoor P.E is on a Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure both kits are in school each week.

Library day is on a Thursday.

Weekly Themed Home Learning Summer Term 2

At the start of each week you will find a 2 page topic grid and all the resources you will need to complete the activities.  You can choose which activities to try - they can be done in any order.  If you complete all the non challenge activities then you can have a go at the 'challenges' which are trickier. Remember to let me know how you get on using our class blog on Purplemash.

Dragons (week beginning 13th July 2020)

Our topic this half term is animals. We are enjoying learning about how to look after our pets in our veterinary role play!

We were visited by the author Diane Hull who shared her book ' Be happy to be you'.

We have started reading 'The Ugly Five' by Julia Donaldson. Some of us made the African savannah outside!

We have been partitioning number in different ways during Maths.

The Zoo lab came to visit us today! We saw a giant African snail, a tarantula, a bearded dragon, a pacman frog, a cornsnake and three rats! We know whether an animal is a mammal, fish, bird, reptile, amphibian or insect and today we learnt about two different animal groups - molluscs and arachnids.

Last week was anti-bullying week and we had a very busy time in school! We painted pebbles for World Kindness day and raised money for Children In Need.

National Geographic Day - We had a great time exploring the school grounds and the surrounding environment using maps to help us.

The Fire Service from Rawtenstall visited us today! They came in their Fire Engine and talked to us about what Firefighters wear, what equipment they have and what special jobs they have to do to keep us safe.

Here we are dressed as characters for World Book Day!

On Wednesday, we enjoyed the Al Fresco workshop about The Great Fire of London. We learnt how to do wattle and daub and built a new bakery in Pudding Lane. We played Fire Tig and had lots of fun!
