Physical development submission – fine motor movements

This submission is to show how small motor movements are part of physical development in the Early Years. The descriptors that the children are working against are: 40-60 months - Handles tools, objects, construction and malleable materials safely and with increasing control. 40-60 months - Shows a preference for a dominant hand. 40-60 months - Begins to use anticlockwise movement and retrace vertical lines. 40-60months - Begins to form recognisable letters 40-60 months - Uses a pencil and holds it effectively to form recognisable letters, most of which are correctly formed. ELG - Children show good control and co-ordination in large and small movements ELG -They handle equipment and tools effectively, including pencils for writing. The evidence submitted shows examples of the sorts of things children have to do to achieve these descriptors.
