Physical development - Moving and Handling

We used our theme of traditional tales in autumn 1 to give us a purpose for experimenting with different ways for moving during our PE lessons. We pretended we were the 3 pigs – trotting down the road, skip, walk, run etc.. Next we explored different ways of travelling like a pig and used different body parts to move around. When the teacher called ‘wolf’ the children had to freeze in a position and hold their balance so that the wolf didn’t notice them. The apparatus was used to represent a bridge so that they can cross the river and the children thought of a different way to travel to escape the wolf. We were also pigs in the mud when experimenting with different rolls.
