Children designed their experiment using the Experimental Variables Shuffleboard. This helped them to write the question they would need to control to make it a fair test. Some children wanted to find out how the thickness of an elastic band affects how far it will stretch. Others wanted to find out how the weight pulling an elastic band affects how far it will stretch. Next, they collected the measurements in a table. The children learnt about how weight is the force due to gravity and is measured in Newtons. They will be designing other fair tests to discover the answer to some other scientific questions, to do with forces, over the next few lessons.
