Class 9 pupils were asked to study the hills from the school meadow. We were thinking about the heights. Pupils then used cards and spacers to try and make a 3D image of the hills. We then took a photo of their hills from the side and above. we noticed that from above our hills showed contour lines clearly. As a follow-up we studied Ordnance survey maps of the lake district and found as many high hills/mountains as we could by closely looking at the contours. This was a follow on from our study of rivers.
