We began by exploring pushes & pulls with our bodies. This was done in the playground and in PE on apparatus. We then looked at how movement was created in pictures, such as the Japanese wave and Van Goghs Haystacks. The children then created their own pictures to show the pushes and pulls that they used.
We also investigated push and pull toys and how they were designed. We investigated the varying sizes of what push or pull was required to move different objects, e.g a box of blocks, a pair of trainers or a car.
We then looked at gravity through various practical experiments to see its effects, such as water on a wheel and a car on a slope. We measured the rate of fall and took into account the air resistance.
We then finished by looking at wind as a force, which we did using balloons, parachutes, bubbles and streamers.
