The children were given an investigation: A pirate needs to bury his treasure somewhere around the school grounds. It needs to be a quiet place and dark at some point so he won't get spotted.
The children used the data loggers to find which places would be the quietest and darkest. they then had to interpret the results on the IWB, focusing on the sound and light readings. The children had to guess what the sudden noise could be at 3am. We investigated the sites and found evidence of animal activity. We also listened with our eyes shut to imagine what the noise was. The results were recorded in writing in class.
